Richard Cizik, chief lobbyist of the National Association of Evangelicals, has been working bravely in recent years to expand the evangelical community's understanding of Gospel values beyond abortion and gay marriage. In particular, he led the fight to bring environmentalism to the forefront of the Christian agenda.
Now, because of remarks suggesting that he is open to granting legal rights to homosexual couples, he has been forced to resign. This has been coming for some time, really. Not long ago, James Dobson and other big shots began leading the fight to have Cizik deposed for straying from the "family" fixation. [go!]
